In our opinion it is always best to leave it to a professional roofing company! It can be tempting to hire a "jack of all trades" to reduce the costs of roofing repairs, but this just leads to more expense down the line. We have been called out to repair work that has been carried out by people who aren't skilled or qualified so many times.
Most of the houses where we replace old fascia's and soffits, there is hidden damage behind what you see. It is so important that all the rotten wood is removed and replaced before putting the finished uPVC products on the roofline. This can mean that we strip back the roof as far as needed and replace the felt, lath and roof tiles or slates. We would also recommend finishing the edge of roof or slates with our bespoke slate and tile trim. This will act as another water barrier for your roof ensuring extra protection for your home.
